In an interview, Sethi claimed Pakistan kept approaching the US for a ceasefire during the four-day conflict with India in May through ‘international lobbying’. He stated that Pakistan had openly expressed gratitude to President Trump at the time for his role in handling the situation.
The seasoned journalist added, “It was always an attempt from our end to keep a relationship going with Trump. And we have been successful. We tried from all ends, and a lot of lobbying companies were operating. It was a concerted effort.”To highlight their victory
Pakistan even promoted its Army Chief, Asim Munir, to Field Marshal, the highest military rank. Later, he flew to the US to meet President Trump.Sethi further revealed that this wasn’t an easy task as Pakistan had to make a lot of effort and lobby to get President Trump’s support.
According to Moneycontrol, Sethi said, “We have been thanking Trump (for the ceasefire). We thanked him back then, too, for this initiative (ceasefire). India didn’t do the same. Trump kept on saying that he brokered a ceasefire. But Modi rejected this claim and said that it was the DGMOs who got it done.”

After the ceasefire, Pakistan called it a big diplomatic success and praised its army leaders and even nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
India launched a retaliatory attack on key installations across the border in Pakistan after a terrorist attack on Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 26, which killed 25 tourists and one local.
