Earlier on Thursday, July 17, a massive earthquake of 7.3 magnitude had struck Alaska. Its depth was found to be around 36 km below the surface.
Reports suggest that these shallow depths can lead to aftershocks in the region as the seismic waves from these earthquakes have a shorter distance to travel to the surface. This can result in the damage of the infrastructure along with potential of tsunami in the region.
