Ashutosh Sharma masterclass cruises DC to their highest ever run chase in match against LSG

Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a wicket at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture on Monday.Ashutosh Sharma scored 66* off 31 deliveries to take the Capitals home in a stiff run chase, as the Axar Patel-led side cruised to 211 runs amid a topsy-turvy second innings where LSG seemed to have had a stronger grip in the proceedings.
Batting first, LSG scored 209 runs, driven by 75 runs from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh’s 72-run knock.

Mitchell Starc’s three-wicket haul helped the Capitals pull things back in their favour, whereas Kuldeep Yadav produced an effective 4-0-20-2 spell, grabbing the dismissals of Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni.The LSG lower order crumbled after a strong start, falling from 161/3 in the 14th over to 194/8 in the penultimate one.To their credit, LSG began the defence on a formidable note, plucking four wickets in the powerplay overs itself. Shardul Thakur, M Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi notched a couple of wickets each.Ashutosh Sharma entered the park when the score was stuck at 65/5 in the seventh over, and he took off incredibly after biding some time to get his eye in.The former Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter smashed five fours and sixes each to get DC over the finishing line in the final over with a six straight down the ground to Shahbaz Ahmed.First Published: Mar 24, 2025 11:40 PM IST
