At Modi-Trump meet, India may pledge more US imports, talk on reducing trade deficit

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Washington DC for a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump on February 14. The two leaders are set to discuss India-US trade ties, cooperation on AI, innovation, and civil nuclear reactors among other issues.

Sources have told CNBC-TV18 that during the bilateral meeting, India is likely to convey to the Trump administration a willingness to buy more American products and reduce the trade deficit. India is to insist on a win-win partnership in the trade negotiations, they said.
Indian officials are prepared to defend India’s stand in tough trade negotiations that may take place during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, they added.
