Budget 2025: Shrimp stocks Mukka Proteins, Apex Frozen, Avanti Feeds rally after FM announcements

Shares of companies engaged in shrimp business like Apex Frozen Foods Ltd., Avanti Feeds Ltd., Mukka Proteins Ltd., Zeal Aqua Ltd., and Waterbase Ltd. gained up to 10% on Saturday, February 1.

The uptick in shrimp stocks was seen after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the government will bring in enabling framework for sustainable harness of Fisheries in India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).


Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament, said that special focus for fisheries in EEZ will be around Andaman And Nicobar.The FM also announced the launch of a National Mission on High-Yielding Seeds. The initiative will introduce 100 climate-resistant seed varieties to push agricultural productivity.

Sitharman said the National Mission for Edible Oil and Seeds, is aimed at achieving AatmaNirbharta (self-reliance) in the sector.

Additionally, the FM announced a six-year mission to ensure self-sufficiency in pulses, with a special focus on toor, urad, and masoor dal.

Sitharaman presented the Budget using a digital tablet encased in a traditional red ‘bahi-khata’ pouch, continuing the practice she introduced in 2019, moving away from the British-era Budget briefcase.
