In a post on X shared via its official handle @Iran_in_India, the Iranian Embassy said, “The United States continues to weaponise the economy and use #sanctions
as tools to dictate its will on independent nations such as Iran and India and impede their growth and development.”
“These coercive discriminatory actions violate the principles of international law and national sovereignty, representing a modern form of economic imperialism,” it added.

The embassy views resistance to such policies as a step towards a more powerful, non-Western-led multilateral world order and a stronger Global South. “Resisting such policies is a stand for a more powerful emerging non-Western-led multilateral world order and a stronger Global South,” the embassy wrote.
The reaction of the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi comes a day after the US imposed sanctions against six Indian companies over oil trade with Iran.
On Wednesday, the US Department of State announced the sanctions, stating that the Indian entities intentionally engaged in ‘significant transactions’ for the purchase and marketing of Iranian petroleum products, violating US sanctions against Iran.
Earlier on July 28, the Iranian Embassy made a stern statement urging Indian media outlets to stop broadcasting what it termed as ‘fake and fabricated news.’
On X, it wrote, “Indian media should not compromise the public trust and its professional credibility by disseminating fake and fabricated news.”

“In recent days, it has been observed that certain Indian news outlets, including some well-known media, have published baseless reports disrespecting Iran and its great leadership. Such irresponsible reporting not only undermines public confidence but also severely damages the professional reputation of these media institutions among their audiences,” it added.
Expressing full respect for freedom of expression and the right of the public to information, the embassy urged Indian media “to rely on credible and impartial sources and to refrain from spreading sensationalist and inaccurate content regarding Iran.”
