A powerful explosion near Gate No. 1 of Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening left at least 8 people dead and several vehicles gutted, according to the Delhi Police, which confirmed the details to CNBC-TV18.
The blast, believed to have originated from a parked car around 6.52 pm today evening, triggered a massive fire that spread rapidly across the area. At least seven fire tenders were deployed by the Delhi Fire Service to control the blaze.
Authorities have cordoned off the site, and forensic teams are investigating the cause, with initial reports pointing to a possible CNG cylinder blast. A high alert has been issued across Delhi.
