Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday said “no power on earth can stop India” from becoming a developed and prosperous nation by 2047, citing the government’s efforts to boost domestic growth, infrastructure, and global trade.Speaking at the 6th Global Fintech Fest (GFF) in Mumbai, Goyal said the world now looks at India with “trust and confidence” as the country delivers high-quality talent, goods, services and maintains its commitment to timely delivery.
“From being a participant to now a principal architect of the fintech world, India leads global initiatives,” he said. The minister added that when India aspires to become a $30-35 trillion economy by 2047, the goal is “very much within the realm of possibility”, supported by strong macroeconomic fundamentals, a robust financial sector and expanding international partnerships.“Trust is the only currency in finance that never loses value,” Goyal said, noting that India’s steady growth and structural reforms have propelled it to a $4 trillion economy, the world’s fourth largest. Goyal noted that the government continues to take “massive steps” to promote the domestic economy, driven by infrastructure development and consumption-led growth, even amid global headwinds. He said India’s trade relations with developed nations are deepening, with exports of goods and services estimated to have grown 4-5%.“India today stands at an inflection point—a trusted global partner with low taxes, strong institutions and a focus on empowering consumers,” Goyal said, adding that the country’s digital transformation will be central to sustaining momentum.(With PTI inputs)
