The proposal that Mr. Elon Musk, for his consistent support for the fundamental human right of freedom of speech and thus for peace, receives the Nobel Peace Prize 2025, was successfully submitted today. It is not clear if Grims, a member of the European Parliament, meets the criteria to submit candidate names to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
Nominations for most Nobel Prizes are by invitation only, but individuals who meet the nominating criteria can submit candidates. Each year, thousands of university professors, academy members, past Nobel Laureates, and parliamentary assembly members are invited to put forward nominations for the following year’s prizes.
Once received, nominations are reviewed by the relevant Nobel committees, which assess and shortlist candidates.
The selection process begins in September when the Nobel Committee invites nominations. January 31 marks the deadline for submissions, after which the committee screens nominations and selects preliminary candidates in February.
Between March and May, the committee consults with experts before compiling a report with expert recommendations between June and August. Final selections are made in October, followed by the official announcement of winners.
