The investigation is reported to involved classified documents, as per a senior US official. An earlier probe was shut down by the Biden administration due to “political reasons”, reported New York Post.

Bolton also criticised Trump’s talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Ukraine conflict, saying that he doesn’t see the talks making any progress but the US President wants the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Russia has not changed its goal: drag Ukraine into a new Russian Empire. Moscow has demanded that Ukraine cede territory it already holds and the remainder of Donetsk, which it has been unable to conquer. Zelensky will never do so,” Bolton wrote on X on August 22, while sharing a link of his interview with media outlet NPR.
“Meanwhile, meetings will continue because Trump wants a Nobel Peace Prize, but I don’t see these talks making any progress,” he added.

Trump had criticised Bolton and the media showing him by calling him a “loser” and “dumb”.
