A delegation from the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday, flagging the impact of steep US tariffs on India’s exports, sources told CNBC-TV18.Exporters told the minister that higher duties are hurting market access and competitiveness, posing risks to jobs and employment generation in key sectors.The concerns follow the United States’ decision to impose tariffs of up to 50% on certain Indian goods, which came into effect on August 27 under President Donald Trump’s administration.According to sources, Sitharaman assured the delegation of full government support, reiterating that the Centre is committed to protecting exporters’ interests and safeguarding workers’ livelihoods.Also Read: US 50% tariff on Indian goods: Economists see sectoral pain, limited GDP hit
