GAIL Q1 Results | Profit falls 31%, misses estimates; ₹5,000-cr LPG pipeline expansion cleared

State-owned gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd on Monday (July 28) reported a 30.77% year-on-year (YoY) decline in net profit at ₹1,886 crore for the first quarter that ended on June 30, 2025.In the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, GAIL India posted a net profit of ₹2,723.98 crore. The CNBC-TV18 poll had predicted a profit of ₹1,978 crore for the quarter under review.
Revenue came in at ₹34,768 crore for the April-June quarter, slightly above the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹34,474 crore.

EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹3,334 crore, marginally below the Street estimate of ₹3,389 crore. The company’s EBITDA margin was 9.6%,  a bit lower than the projected 9.8%.Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL, said the company has incurred a capex of ₹3,176 crore during the current quarter, mainly on pipelines, petrochemicals, equity contribution to JVs, etc.

Gupta also informed that GAIL has got PNGRB’s authorisation for capacity expansion of the Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline from 3.25 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) to 6.5 MTPA, involving an estimated capex of ₹5,000 crore and is expected to be completed within three years. This project will cut down on CO2 emissions significantly and reduce road mishaps and leaks.

The results came after the close of the market hours. Shares of GAIL (India) Ltd ended at ₹180.45, down by ₹3.10 or 1.69%, on the BSE.
