India produced a resilient batting performance on the final day to draw the fourth Test against England, riding on centuries from Ravindra Jadeja (107), Shubman Gill (103) and Washington Sundar (101). The result keeps the five-match series alive, with England leading 2-1 heading into the final Test.
Starting the day on 174/2 and trailing by 137 runs, India’s top and middle order dug in to erase a 311-run deficit. Gill brought up his fourth century of the series, becoming the first Asian batter to score over 700 runs in a Test series in England before falling to Jofra Archer just before lunch.
Earlier, KL Rahul missed out on a century, falling for 90 after a 188-run third-wicket stand with Gill. Jadeja and Washington closed out the innings unbeaten, steering India to 425/4 in 143 overs, a strong reply to England’s first-innings 669.
The fifth and final Test begins with the series still in the balance.
