Several platforms, including music streaming service Spotify and instant messaging platform Discord, were inaccessible to tens of thousands of users on Thursday following an outage at Alphabet’s Google Cloud.”Our engineers are continuing to mitigate the issue and we have confirmation that the issue is recovered in some locations,” Reuters reported Google Cloud as saying. The company added that it could not provide an exact timeline for full resolution, according to Reuters.
Google Cloud’s status page confirmed that multiple products were facing varying levels of service disruption. Downdetector, which tracks outages by compiling status reports from various sources, recorded over 10,000 problem reports for Google Cloud and more than 44,000 for Spotify at approximately 2:46 p.m. ET in the U.S.

Downdetector noted that its figures were based on user reports, and the actual number of affected users could differ.Additionally, disruptions in Amazon Web Services (AWS) contributed to the widespread service outages. Downdetector recorded over 13,000 reports related to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and more than 6,000 linked to AWS.As a result, several platforms experienced outages or service interruptions, including:
