“India and Paraguay stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism. There is immense potential for cooperation to fight common challenges like cybercrime, organised crime, and drug trafficking,” the Prime Minister said.
He also said both nations could learn from one another, given their shared aspirations and concerns. “India and Paraguay are an integral part of the Global South. Our hopes, aspirations and challenges are similar, so we can deal with these challenges effectively by learning from each other’s experiences,” he said, according to ANI.

President Palacios is on a three-day state visit to India, which runs until 4 June. He arrived on 2 June and was received by Minister of State Harsh Vardhan Malhotra. He was formally welcomed with a Guard of Honour at Palam Air Force Station. After concluding key meetings in the capital, Palacios is expected to travel to Mumbai.
Paraguayan President’s visit aims to strengthen ties
Modi described Palacios’ visit to India as “historic” and said the President’s stop in Mumbai reflected a clear commitment to deepening the bilateral relationship.
“Your visit to India is historic. This is the second visit of the President of Paraguay to India. You are visiting not only Delhi but Mumbai as well. This clearly reflects your commitment to mutual relations,” he said.
“I believe that through mutual cooperation, we will pave the way for shared prosperity. We have new opportunities for cooperation in areas like digital technology, critical minerals, energy, agriculture, health, defence, railways and space,” he added.
Modi also said India was glad it could support Paraguay during the Covid-19 pandemic by supplying vaccines.
He said the two countries have an opportunity to advance India-Latin America ties by building greater trust, increasing trade, and working more closely across various sectors. “I am sure that your visit will provide new strength to the pillars of mutual trust, trade and close cooperation. It will also add new dimensions to India-Latin America relations,” he said.
“Last year, I participated in the CARICOM Summit in Guyana, where we discussed increasing cooperation on many subjects. We can work together with Paraguay and all Latin American countries in all these areas,” he added.
