Indian doctor from Kerala found dead at her Abu Dhabi residence

An Indian expatriate and popular dental surgeon from Kannur, Kerala, was found dead at her residence in Abu Dhabi late Monday night. Originally from Talappu in the Kannur district of Kerala, 54-year-old Dr Arayakandy Dhanalakshmi was a general dentist at Lifecare Hospital in Mussafah.Concern among her friends and co-workers arose after Dr Dhanalakshmi failed to show up for work on Monday and was unavailable for two days. Authorities were thereafter alerted, and she was later discovered unresponsive at her Mussafah, Abu Dhabi residence, The Times of India reported.
Long-time Abu Dhabi medical community member Dr Dhanalakshmi worked as a general dentist at Lifecare Hospital in Mussafah. Her contemporaries and the Indian expatriate community are shocked by her unexpected death.
Dr Dhanalakshmi graduated from MAHE University’s College of Dental Sciences in Mangalore, Karnataka. Hailing from Kannur, Kerala, Dr Dhanalakshmi has been practising dentistry for more than 20 years, including her early years at Dhanalakshmi Hospital in Kannur. She became an integral member of Lifecare Hospital after relocating to the United Arab Emirates over a decade ago.Besides her therapeutic expertise, she was well-known as a writer, lecturer, and cultural ambassador. She frequently participated in cultural events and activities at the Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam and also volunteered for dental and public health awareness campaigns at various schools and organisations.

Dr dhanalakshmi was the daughter of Chandramathi and the late Anandakrishna Bus Service chief, Narayanan. She is survived by her siblings Ananda Krishnan, Shivaram, and Dr. Seethalakshmi, as well as her husband Sujith, who resides in Kerala at the moment.

Hospital’s response

In an emotional ode, Lifecare Hospital described Dr Dhanalakshmi as “a compassionate healer, dedicated educator, and beloved member of our medical family” whose warmth and optimism profoundly impacted both patients and co-workers.

The hospital stressed that her absence has left her loved ones with an irreversible void in their hearts.

“Her legacy of care and community connection will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed,” they added.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, and investigations into Dr Dhanalakshmi’s death are still ongoing.

Dr Dhanalakshmi’s incident followed days after the death of Aster DM Healthcare group orthopaedic specialist Dr Anwar Sadath, who worked at Medcare Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital in Dubai, per The Siasat Daily. His unexpected death has also caused a stir in the medical community.
