According to an NDTV report, Kundi, a father of two, was kneed in the neck by the cops who mistook a public argument between him and his wife Amritpal Kaur for a domestic violence situation.

As per another Australia Today report, Kaur was filming the arrest. She said that she saw an officer drive his knee into Kundi’s neck and slam his head against the police car. Kaur further stated that the cops also slammed him against the road and that she had to stop recording the arrest out of panic.
Shortly after, the 42-year-old had to be rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital since he lost consciousness, where the doctors said he sustained severe brain and neck nerve damage.
Kaur, speaking on his prognosis, told the media that her husband may not regain consciousness. However, she remains hopeful her husband will ‘miraculously’ recover.
Australian cops claim Kundi resisted arrest
The Australian cops, meanwhile, claimed that Kundi was inebriated and resisted arrest. Acting Assistant Commissioner John DeCandia said that Kundi initially appeared to be ‘comfortable’ with the cops, as per bodycam footage. However, he admitted that the footage only showed a part of the incident.
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas defended the cops, saying their jobs were “really difficult” and “deserved” support.
The South Australia Police launched an internal investigation into the incident. Footage from body-worn cameras is also under review, reports added.
While no charges have been filed, social media users have been debating the use of force by cops during arrests and on police accountability.
