India’s biggest stock winner this year has just one analyst—and it’s a ‘sell’ call

Cigarette maker Godfrey Phillips India has emerged as the top-performing stock of 2025, despite having virtually no analyst coverage. The shares have surged 108% so far this year, following a 148% rally in 2024, underscoring the frenzy in domestic equities. In comparison, the Nifty 50 has gained nearly 6%, while the broader Nifty 500 index is up just 3% over the same period.
