India is celebrating International Women’s Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and fervour. International Women’s Day (IWD) is an annual global celebration to recognise and honour women’s accomplishments in social, economic, cultural and political disciplines. The day is dedicated to recognising women’s accomplishments in numerous sectors and advocating for gender equality.According to the United Nations (UN), the theme for International Women’s Day is ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.’ As per the official IWD website, the theme is ‘Accelerate Action.’
In India, various events, campaigns, and community service projects are being organised to promote gender equality and support women and girls.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Handloom Walkathon 2025 was organised in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
