“That ended the war. I don’t want to use an example of Hiroshima. I don’t want to use an example of Nagasaki. But that was essentially the same thing. That ended that war.”
“The last thing Iran now wants is Uranium enrichment,” he said. “They’re not going to be building bombs for a long time,” Trump said, insisting that US strikes caused “total obliteration” of nuclear sites. When asked if the US would strike Iran again if it attempted to restore its nuclear program, Trump replied, “Sure.”
“The last thing they want to do is enrich anything right now. They want to recover, and we won’t let that happen. Number one, militarily, we won’t. I think we’ll end up having somewhat of a relationship with Iran. I see it. Look, I’ve had a relationship over the last four days. They agreed to the ceasefire, and it was a very equal agreement. They both said that’s enough,” he said.Trump went on to compare the situation between Israel and Iran to “two kids in a school yard.”
“Let them fight like hell for two or three minutes and then it’s easy to stop them,” he added.
Trump added that Israel would assess the damage the US strikes caused to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
But his assessment was somewhat contradicted by Vice-President JD Vance, who earlier told ABC News that they would work in the coming weeks and do something with that fuel. “That’s one of the things we’re going to have conversations with the Iranians about,” he said.
Iran and Israel agreed to a Trump-brokered ceasefire after Tehran launched a strike on Al Udeid Air Base, which houses thousands of US troops. The strike came a day after the US bombing of three nuclear sites.
The war started on June 13 when Israel bombarded Iran, claiming it was attempting to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons.
