Iranian lawmakers voted Wednesday in favour of suspending cooperation with the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, news agency AFP reported.This has come to pass after a 12-day war that saw Israeli and US strikes on nuclear facilities.
After an uneasy truce was brokered between Israel and Iran by the United States, a major development has come to pass in the ongoing Middle East saga.
“The International Atomic Energy Agency, which refused to even marginally condemn the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, put its international credibility up for auction,” Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said according to state TV, announcing that “the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran will suspend its cooperation with the IAEA until the security of the nuclear facilities is guaranteed.”, reported AFPPreviously, at the peak of the tensions during the recent exchange of missiles, the Iranian lawmakers had also voted to block the crucial Strait of Hormuz. This decision was, however, not executed as the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, did not approve of the move.
