In the post, the Jewish state’s armed forces, which have been accused of extreme measures in their operations in the Gaza Strip, said, “STRUCK: Hamas terrorist Anas Al-Sharif, who posed as an Al Jazeera journalist. Al-Sharif was the head of a Hamas terrorist cell and led advanced rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF troops.
Intelligence and documents from Gaza, including rosters, terrorist training lists and salary records, prove he was a Hamas operative integrated into Al Jazeera.”

Warning other journalists, the IDF further added, “A press badge isn’t a shield for terrorism.”Al Jazeera, in its response, said that this attack was ‘yet another blatant and premeditated attack on press freedom.’
Furthermore, a statement from the network added, “This attack comes amid the catastrophic consequences of the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, which has seen the relentless slaughter of civilians, forced starvation, and the obliteration of entire communities.”
The network also denied the journalist’s association with Hamas and said that there was no evidence to support the claim by the Israeli regime.
The network also shared Al-Sharif’s last post on X

“Today’s killing of four journalists in #Gaza includes Anas Al-Sharif, one of Al Jazeera’s best-known reporters and one of several whom Israel had previously alleged were members of Hamas without providing evidence. Most recently, Al-Sharif had reported on the starvation that he and his colleagues were experiencing because of Israel’s refusal to allow sufficient food aid into Gaza.”. The post from CPJ read.
This development comes amid plans of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to ‘take over’ the city of Gaza. These apparent takeover plans have been met with extensive criticism from international leaders across the board, as they would violate international laws.
