The killings are the latest in a series of escalations by the Israeli side since the stalling of the ceasefire in July. Humanitarian aid to Gaza has been choked, and the people have been forced suffer a famine forced by Netanyahu administration.

Along with the correspondents, camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa were also among the victims.
The Israeli Defence Force reportedly confirmed that it had targeted Anas al-Sharif, saying he “served as the head of a terrorist cell in Hamas” in a telegram post after his death.

Anas Al-Sharif was a contract reporter hired by Al Jazeera to cover the Israel-Hamas war.
The latest Israeli strike on Gaza follows the stalling of the third ceasefire in July. The escalation is the latest in a series of decisions approved by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which have faced severe criticism from various corners of the international community except the US.
In fact, Netanyahu’s office said in a social media said the Israeli PM had a conversation with the US President Donald Trump on Sunday. On the other hand, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese declared on Monday (AUg 11) that the country recognise the state of Palestine.
The American support for Israel’s war on Gaza has hit a record low. An Economist/YouGov survey released on August 5, showed that only 27% of Americans support Netanyahu, and 84% of those polled wanted an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The Parliament in Tel Aviv, called the Knesset, has gone into summer recess until October, with Netanyahu government surviving on minority support after two orthodox political outfits withdrew their support.
For several months now, polls have shown that the people of Israel have been losing patience as they wait for the hostages (taken by Hamas on Oct 7, 2022) to return.
Most people reportedly prefer a negotiated settlement with Hamas even if it requires that the war in Gaza be wound down, according to a Bloomberg report. In early July, the Israeli Democracy Institute said that less than half the country now trusts Netanyahu, according to local reports.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu has dragged his heels on the ceasefire, choked humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and forced a famine on them.
