In response to growing hostilities along the India-Pakistan border and increased security alerts across northern India, major IT and consulting firms have moved swiftly to implement work-from-home arrangements and suspend non-essential travel for their employees.As reported by Moneycontrol, several companies—including Infosys, HCLTech, Tech Mahindra, Deloitte, KPMG, and EY—have issued advisories urging staff in high-alert areas such as Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad to work remotely or avoid all unnecessary travel. Employees stationed in border states have also been asked to return to safer base locations without delay.
IT services giant Infosys has allowed flexibility in work arrangements, permitting employees to work from home up to 10 days per month or three days per week. In an added safety measure, the company has reportedly mandated that office lights be switched off after 7 PM.
HCLTech, headquartered in Noida, declared a work-from-home day on Friday, May 9, for employees across its Noida, Gurugram, and Chandigarh offices, according to a company employee cited in the report. The firm has also activated national-level command centres to assist its workforce during this period of uncertainty.Tech Mahindra, in an internal communication dated May 7, advised its staff to adhere to instructions from its corporate services team. The firm has recommended deferring all non-essential travel, both domestic and international, for the next two weeks. Although the advisory did not explicitly mention remote work, employees were cautioned against discussing the situation on social media or in client communications.Deloitte India has also suspended all non-essential travel and established a nationwide command centre to assist employees. A source told Moneycontrol that staff working in border regions have been told to return to safer locations immediately and to comply with government-issued safety directives.KPMG India has given its staff in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Jaipur the option to work from home, the office, or client locations based on consultation with their business heads. A spokesperson for the firm told Moneycontrol that offices will continue to operate to support essential services.EY India has issued similar instructions. In an internal memo, the firm advised employees in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad to work from home on May 9, with remote work being optional for those in other locations.
