Jensen Huang meets, South Korean President, forges deal to ship 260,000 chips

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on Friday, October 31, met South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, a day after the chipmaker scored significant deals to ship over 260,000 chips to the government and corporations.

They met on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Gyeongju  and discussed ways to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence, the President’s office confirmed.

Nvidia had forged agreements with South Korea’s ministry of Science and corporations like Samsung Electronics Co., Hyundai Motor Group, and SK Group. The South Korean government aims to use 50,000 high-end chips to eventually build a sovereign AI.

Samsung on Thursday (October 30) said that it will build an AI factory by deploying a cluster of over 50,000 Nvidia chips. Hyundai Motor and SK Group too has committed to using a similar number of processors.
