Karnataka increases toll rate by 3-5% from today

Karnataka increased toll rates by 3-5% from April 1, Tuesday.The state has 66 toll plazas. The revised rates will apply to most of the toll plazas depending on the concessionaire period, reported Deccan Herald.
KB Jayakumar, Project Director of NHAI, Bengaluru told DH that the maximum hike will be 5% and the minimum 3%.

Karnataka State Travel Operators’ Association president Radhakrishna Holla said the additional charges would be passed on to customers.”The charges are increased based on the wholesale price index in accordance with the 2008 rules. It’s a default hike. We operate tourist cabs and taxis, and will pass on the increase to customers,” he told DH.As per the report, toll charges will increase at these plazas — Kaniminike and Sheshagirihalli (Bengaluru-Mysuru), Nangli (Bengaluru-Tirupati), Bagepalli (Bengaluru-Hyderabad), Sadahalli (Bengaluru airport road), and Hulikunte and Nalluru Devanahalli (Satellite Town Ring Road).At a media event, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari sadid the ministry will introduce a policy for toll charges on national highways.On March 19, Gadkari told the Rajya Sabha that total toll collection in India touched Rs 64,809.86 crore in 2023-24, a 35% rise over the previous year.First Published: Mar 27, 2025 9:50 AM IST
