Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd on Tuesday (August 5) denied media reports that claimed an enormous amount had been credited to the account of a deceased woman.The clarification followed allegations by a 19-year-old youth, Deepak alias Deepu, who said that a massive sum appeared in his late mother Gayatri Devi’s account. Gayatri Devi passed away two months ago, but the account was reportedly still being accessed by her son.
On the night of August 3, Deepak allegedly received a message indicating a staggering credit of ₹10,01,35,60,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,23,56,00,00,00,00,299. Shocked by the figure, he shared the message with friends and asked them to count the zeros.

In light of these reports, we encourage customers to check their account details using Kotak’s mobile banking app or net banking platforms.”
The bank further stated that its systems are operating normally, and all services remain secure and fully functional.
Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd closed at ₹2,001.75 on the BSE on August 5, up ₹4.80 or 0.24%.
