As part of the project, L&T will construct a 250 kilotonnes per annum Leaching, Purification and Cellhouse facility along with a 125 kilotonnes per annum Jarosite Circuit. The upgraded smelter is expected to produce Special High Grade Zinc Cathodes (99.995% zinc purity). The scope includes complete site services such as engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of core systems and infrastructure.
The deal strengthens a three-decade partnership between L&T and Hindustan Zinc, with the company having led multiple expansion efforts at the smelter in the past.At 2:01 PM, shares of Larsen & Toubro were trading at ₹3,601.70 on the NSE, down 0.96% intraday.
The contract comes close on the heels of L&T reporting a strong first-quarter performance. The company posted a 29.9% year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹3,617 crore in the June quarter, topping analyst estimates. Revenue rose 15.5% to ₹63,678 crore, while EBITDA grew 12.5% to ₹6,316 crore.
Total order inflows during the quarter stood at ₹94,453 crore, with international orders making up over half the total. L&T’s consolidated order book as of June 30 stands at ₹6.13 lakh crore, up 6% from March-end.
