L&T wins ‘large’ grid-Infra order in middle east worth up to ₹5,000 crore

Engineering and Infrastructure conglomerate Larsen & Toubro Ltd. announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) vertical has won grid infrastructure orders in Middle East.The order is classified as a “large” order, which means the value of the order ranges between ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore.


This involves the 400 kV super grid interconnection linking electricity networks of GCC member states, which has helped improve overall grid resilience and optimise generation capacity.Currently, Oman’s network is connected to this interconnection through the UAE’s 220 kV grid. L&T PT&D has now secured an order to engineer, procure, and construct a 400 kV substation in the UAE, enabling a direct 400 kV interconnection.

In addition, the company has won an order to build a series of new 132 kV substations in the Middle East to meet growing electricity demand.

In Saudi Arabia, L&T has received a turnkey order for 380 kV overhead transmission lines associated with integrating renewable energy power plants into the grid.

Shares of Larsen and Toubro Ltd. are trading 0.53% lower at ₹3,763.80. The stock has risen 3% on a year-to-date basis.
