Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Monday, August 11, said it has won an “ultra-mega” contract from
Adani Power Ltd. to set up eight thermal power units of 800 MW capacity each, totalling 6,400 MW of new generation capacity.L&T classifies orders above ₹15,000 crore as “ultra-mega” ones.
The contract will be executed by L&T Energy – CarbonLite Solutions (LTECLS), the company’s business vertical for advanced power and low-carbon technologies.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and commissioning of boiler-turbine-generator (BTG) packages, with auxiliaries and associated mechanical, electrical and control and instrumentation (C&I) systems, L&T said.”In today’s dynamic energy landscape, where India’s demand for reliable and affordable power continues to grow, this order from the Adani Group reinforces our role as a leading partner in building the country’s critical energy infrastructure,” Subramanian Sarma, L&T’s deputy MD and president, said.
L&T reported a 29.9% increase in its June quarter net profit at ₹3,617 crore from ₹2,786 crore in the previous fiscal.Its revenue increased 15.5% to ₹63,678 crore from ₹55,119 crore in the year-ago period.
The company’s EBITDA was up 12.5% to ₹6,316 crore from ₹5,615 crore in the June quarter last year. Its margin narrowed to 9.9% from 10.2% in the year-ago period.
L&T has also maintained its full-year guidance for revenue growth, margins and order inflow growth.
L&T shares were trading 1.53% up at ₹3,662.5 apiece at 1.10 pm on Monday. The stock has gained 3.2% in the past month.
