Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Akasa Air reduces ticket prices for flights to Prayagraj

Days after the Centre asked airlines to maintain reasonable fares for flights to Prayagraj, Akasa Air has slashed ticket prices for devotees flying to the holy city for the Maha Kumbh Mela. The airline has cut its ticket prices by 30-45% for flights to Prayagraj, according to a report in The Economic Times.Akasa Air has also increased the number of flights to the city where millions have gathered to take the holy dip in the sacred Sangam.The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has resulted in a huge travel demand with airfares surging for flights to Prayagraj.

Previously, Akasa Air announced special daily flights from Pune to Prayagraj, stating that the operations would continue until February 28. It also increased the number of flights from major locations like Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru alongside its existing services from Mumbai and Delhi.Also Read: Maha Kumbh Stampede: Judicial panel visits Prayagraj to inspect incident siteSpeaking on the same, Praveen Iyer, co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Akasa said, “Kumbh is one of the largest spiritual gatherings and we understand the significance it holds for all the pilgrims. We are delighted to be able to support the movement of devotees and bind the country together through our enhanced reliable and affordable options.” He explained that the gathering will provide a boost to the local economy in Prayagraj whereas their additional flights will be an impetus to the growth.

They reviewed the adequacy of air connectivity to the holy city.Sources also suggest that Indigo Airlines and Air India have also reduced airfares for flights to Prayagraj in the wake of the exorbitantly high prices.
