In a post on X, she wrote, “This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom.” Highlighting the support she hopes to continue receiving from international allies, Machado said, “We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy.”

She dedicated the honour to her fellow citizens and also thanked US President Donald Trump. “I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!” she added.
The President claimed that he had extended assistance to the Venezuelan opposition leader on several occasions. He stated that Machado called him and accepted the prize “in honour” of him.

While speaking to reporters at the White House, he said, “The person who got the Nobel Prize called me today and said, ‘I am accepting this in honour of you because you really deserved it’… I didn’t say, ‘Give it to me’, though. I think she might have… I’ve been helping her along the way. They needed a lot of help in Venezuela during the disaster. I am happy because I saved millions of lives.”
Trump also posted a screenshot of Machado on his Truth Social platform.
Announcing the award earlier, the Nobel Committee described Machado as a “brave and committed champion of peace” who “keeps the flame of democracy burning during a growing darkness.”
Trump had repeatedly insisted he deserved the prize for stopping multiple wars. Soon after the announcement on Friday, the White House criticised the committee’s decision to award the Venezuelan opposition leader instead of Trump.
On X, White House spokesman Steven Cheung said, “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.”
