Prime Minister Narendra Modi will turn 75 on Tuesday, 17 September. To mark the occasion, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a two-week nationwide programme, Sewa Pakhwada, from 17 September to 2 October.The campaign will begin with blood donation camps in 1,000 districts on 17 September. From 18 September to 2 October, blood donation drives will continue at every Mandal, alongside cleanliness campaigns in schools, hospitals, railway stations, bus stands, temples, parks, riversides, and heritage sites.Other activities include health check-up camps, environmental protection campaigns, exhibitions, distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities, a “Modi Vikas Marathon,” sports events, and drawing competitions.
The BJP’s youth wing will hold a Namo Yuva Run across 75 cities, each expected to see more than 10,000 participants. The Ministry of Culture will organise a student painting competition on themes of Viksit Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Digital India to link youth with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal has been appointed convener of the Sewa Pakhwada. Bansal said preparations included district-level workshops held between 6–10 September and Mandal-level workshops between 11–13 September.Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Sunil Bansal also announced that on 25 September, Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti, the BJP will launch the “Atmanirbhar Bharat, Viksit Bharat” campaign, which will continue until 25 December.In Delhi, Union Minister Amit Shah will launch 15 projects on 17 September at Thyagraj Stadium, including hospital blocks, 101 Arogya Mandirs, and 150 dialysis centres.The BJP government in Delhi will also start multilevel parking facilities at GK and Punjabi Bagh, a flyover at Nand Nagari, and a foot overbridge for Rajputana Rifles under Sewa Pakhwada.In Pune, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol will host a drone and laser show on 16 September, the eve of Modi’s birthday, along with an aid camp for persons with disabilities and a musical evening. Mohol said the show, called Jyotine Tejachi Aarti, will be “the first time in Maharashtra that a drone show will be organised on the lines of shows in Ayodhya and Varanasi.”In Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced that “75 lakh trees will be planted across the state in a single day on 17 September under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. This will be people’s gift to the PM.”Narendra Modi, born in Mehsana, Gujarat, is the longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister, having completed two full terms and currently serving his third. He served as Gujarat Chief Minister from 2001 to 2014.Modi usually spends his birthdays in public service rather than private celebrations. On his 75th, he is expected to inaugurate a mega textile park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, and may also visit Bihar during the Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya, though this visit is not officially confirmed.(With inputs from agencies)
