Musk praises Trump for resolving serious conflicts a day after subsidy threats to Tesla, SpaceX

Date:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Wednesday (July 2) praised US President Donald Trump for “successfully resolving several serious conflicts” around the world a day after the latter threatened to cut millions of dollars in government subsidies for Tesla and SpaceX.

“Credit where credit is due,” Musk wrote on social media platform X, referring to Trump’s claim of having brokered a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza with Israel.

Musk’s comments are also seen as the first sign of a thaw in his dramatic fallout with the US President that began with disagreements over Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill, which Musk had called “a disgusting abomination” on June 3. It axes $7,500 EV tax credit after September that will make electric vehicles (EVs) more expensive.

Multiple online spats and weeks later now, Trump said the billionaire entrepreneur receives unprecedented amount in subsidy.

“Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa,” he wrote on Tuesday, July 1.

Trump earlier said Musk had no reason to be upset over the bill’s EV mandate, stating he was aware of Trump’s stance on EV.

Gaza Ceasefire

Meanwhile, Hamas said it is open to the ceasefire but wants a complete end to the war in Gaza in response to Trump’s announcement of a 60-day ceasefire, according to news agency Associated Press.

Trump posted on Truth Social stating that Israel has agreed to necessary conditions to finalise the 60-day ceasefire, without specifying the conditions and warned Hamas to accept the deal to avoid the situation from worsening.

Trump credited Qatar and Egypt for playing an important role in finalising the deal and said all parties involved would work together to end the war during the 60-day period.

“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump wrote.
