Myanmar hit with three massive earthquakes in an hour, tremors felt in Thailand, buildings collapse

Myanmar has been struck by two consecutive earthquakes on Friday, March 28. First earthquake hit the country at 11:50 am and was measured at 7.2 magnitude on Richter scale, reported National Centre for Seismology (NCS).Tremors of the earthquake were also felt in Thailand’s capital Bangkok on Friday afternoon, with magnitude its magnitude being measured at 7.7 on the Richter scale.

As per the priliminary reports, he US Geological Survey and Germany’s GFZ centre for geosciences said that the depth of the quakes were located about 10 km deep, with the epicentre being Myanmar, reported AP

.

The second earthquake struck Myanmar at 12: 02 pm, measuring at 7.0 magnitude on the Richter scale as per India’s NCS report.

The depth of the Myanmar earthquakes was located 10 km below the surface.

The third earthquake struck Myanmar on 12: 57 pm with the magnitude of the earthquake recorded at 5.0 on  the Richter scale.

Buildings collapse, loss of lives unknown

Bangkok police has confirmed that a high-rise under construction building collapsed in earthquake. However, the number of possible casualties is not known yet, as per AP.

Myanmar witnessed the destruction caused by the earthquake across the country. Reports of dozens of buildings collapse have been reported. Ava Bridge over the Irrawandy river also collapsed due to the quakes.
