Newgen Software Q2 Results: Net profit grows 64% from June, margins expand

Newgen Software reported results for the July to September quarter on Tuesday, October 28, which saw an improvement across parameters on a sequential basis. The stock, in response to the result, has jumped over 11%.Net profit for the September quarter increased by 64% on a quarter-on-quarter basis to ₹82 crore from ₹50 crore in June, while its revenue went up to ₹401 crore from ₹321 crore, implying a 25% growth from the previous quarter.

Its Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) more than doubled from last year to ₹93.5 crore, a 166% growth from the previous quarter, while EBITDA increased by 138% from June to ₹102.6 crore.

EBIT margin for the quarter surged by over 12 percentage points to 23.3% from 11.2% in June.

For the quarter, here’s how various geographies performed for Newgen Software:

• India business revenue increased from ₹95.3 crore to ₹117.8 crore.
• EMEA business revenue increased to ₹124.5 crore from ₹103.4 crore last quarter.
• APAC business revenue increased to ₹63.45 crore from ₹49.9 crore in June.
• US business revenue increased to ₹95 crore from ₹72 crore during the previous quarter.

Shares of Newgen Software are still trading 11% higher after the earnings announcement at ₹995.3. The stock is up 9% in the last one month, but has been a big underperformer this year so far, having declined 44%.
