National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL) has raised ₹1,201 crore from anchor investors ahead of its ₹4,000 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) opening for subscription on Wednesday, July 30.According to data made public on the exchanges, NSDL has approved the allocation of 1.5 crore equity shares to anchor investors. Shares have been issued at the upper end of the price band, which was fixed between ₹760 to ₹800 per share.
India’s largest insurance company, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has been allocated the largest share among anchor investors, at 12% of the total shares issued. LIC has invested ₹144 crore to be allotted close to 18 lakh shares of NSDL.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) – Monsoon and Amundi Funds New Silk Road have also been issued 1.17% of the total allocation, with an overall investment of ₹14 crore.Out of the total 1.5 crore shares, close to 53 lakh shares, or 35.27% of the total allocation was allotted to 12 Indian Mutual Funds, who had applied through 22 schemes. SBI MF, ICICI MF, HDFC MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life, JM Financial, among others, are those, whose names are part of the anchor book.
NSDL is India’s first and largest securities depository. The entire issue is an offer for sale (OFS), which means the company will not receive any proceeds from the issue.
