Pak army chief Asim Munir issues nuclear threat, plans to destroy India’s dam with missiles

Date:

Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir issued nuclear threats to India stating that it would take down half of the world if it faces an existential crisis in a conflict with India in future.Munir also threatened to destroy India’s dam projects on the Indus River saying that Pakistan would fire missiles on the dam once constructed, as per a report by The Print.

“We are a nuclear nation, if we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” Munir reportedly said at a retirement function of General Michael Kurilla, who is the outgoing commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), in Florida’s Tampa.

“We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, phir 10 missile sey faarigh kar dengey [we will destroy it with 10 missiles]The indus river is not the Indians’ family property. Humein missilon ki kami nahin hai, al-hamdulilah [we have no shortage of missiles, Praise be to God],” Munir added. He also reportedly showed the audience a picture of industrialist Mukesh Ambani to warn India. “Ek tweet karwaya tha with Surah Fil and a picture of [the industrialist] Mukesh Ambani to show them what we will do the next time,” Munir said. The phrase ‘Surah Fil’ is associated with Islam and describes how Allah dispatched the birds to drop stones on the battle elephants of the enemy which left them like “chewed-up straw.”

Munir’s nuclear threats from US soil

The remarks are unprecedented as this is the first known nuclear threats to have been delivered from the US soil against any third country. The US has not issued any clarification or statement over Munir’s remarks as of yet.

This is Munir’s second visit to the US within two months after the India Pakistan conflict which lasted four days from May 7 to 10, as India carried out precision strikes on the base camps and sites of terrorists and their associates in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of May 7, codenaming it as Operation Sindoor.

India’s airstrikes were in response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people at a tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran valley. The responsibility of the attack was taken by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy group of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which is a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation recognised by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

India has continuously dismissed Pakistan’s nuclear threats which started coming since the conflict erupted.India is a Mercedes to be hit by a dump truck: Munir

Munir did not just stop at threatening to take down the South Asian region but also mentioned Pakistan’s reported plans on how it would commence the nuclear attacks on India. He also said that Pakistan would not have much to lose considering its present condition.

“We’ll start from India’s East, where they have located their most valuable resources, and then move westwards,” Munir said.

“I am going to use a crude analogy to explain the situation,” he continued. “India is shining Mercedes coming on a highway like Ferrari [sic]but we are a dump truck full of gravel. If the truck hits the car, who is going to be the loser?” he was quoted as saying by The Print.

Islamic function serving Halal food

The black-tie dinner hosted by businessman and honorary consul of Pakistan in Tampa, Adnan Asad, was attended by over 120 Pakistani diaspora, along with dignitaries of other nations, including an Israeli defence forces representative, as per the report.

The function which served only Halal meat, started with a recitation of As-Saf verse 4 from the Quran which states that the Islamic god “Allah loves those who fight in his cause in a row as though they are a single structure joined firmly.” Pakistan’s national anthem was also played at the event.

Sportsmanship in war, Pak military in politics

Munir added that India should accept the losses in the war while offering to disclose the inventory of Pakistan’s losses if India also does the same. “The Indians should accept their losses. Sportsman spirit is a virtue.”

He did not miss the opportunity to make a case for Pakistan’s military to be involved in the country’s politics and key decisions. “They say war is too serious to be left to the Generals, but politics is also too serious to be left to the politicians,” he said.
