On May 9, India sharply criticised Pakistan for failing to close its civilian airspace
after initiating a drone and missile attack targeting Indian territory. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh had said, “Pakistan’s irresponsible behaviour was seen when it did not close its airspace. Pakistan is using civilian aircraft as a shield against Indian air defence systems. Civil aircraft was seen flying between Karachi and Lahore.”
India has called on the international aviation community to take serious note of Pakistan’s reckless actions, which jeopardised the safety of hundreds of civilians during a period of heightened military tension.Meanwhile, India had suspended all civilian flight operations across 25 airports in five border states Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat ahead of the military action.
India launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night on May 6 and 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. The Indian Armed Forces carried out precision military strike and destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
