The move comes in the wake of a major Indian military operation, Operation Sindoor
carried out in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead and several others injured.
On Wednesday, India announced that it had conducted coordinated precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). Details of the operation were shared in a press briefing in New Delhi by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.“First is Sarjal camp, Sialkot, which lies 6 km inside Pakistan… It’s the camp where those terrorists involved in the March 2025 killing of four Jammu and Kashmir police personnel received their training,” Colonel Qureshi said.
She also confirmed the destruction of another key site: “It was the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed, targeted by Indian Armed Forces.”
“’Operation Sindoor’ was a retaliation to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack of April 22 to serve justice to the innocent victims and their families,” said Wing Commander Singh, explaining the objective behind the operation.
According to Indian authorities, the strikes dismantled facilities associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen. Of the nine targeted camps, four were located in Pakistan—Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya—while the remaining were in PoJK.
“Pakistan has maintained a complex terror infrastructure for three decades, comprising 21 recruitment, indoctrination, and launch pad centres across Pakistan and PoJK,” Singh added.
The strikes, conducted jointly by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, took place between 1:05 am and 1:30 am on Wednesday, based on what officials described as credible intelligence.
“No military installation was targeted, and till now there are no reports of civilian casualties in Pakistan,” Colonel Qureshi clarified.
