The Ministry of External Affairs described the meeting as an “insightful discussion” on key topics, highlighting the growing collaboration between the two nations. Ramaswamy, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination last year, was previously part of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) before stepping down on January 20 to focus on a potential Ohio gubernatorial run in 2026.
Earlier, Modi met SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to explore opportunities in space, mobility, technology, and energy, while also exchanging ideas on governance efforts in India and the US. Musk, who was appointed by President Donald Trump last month to lead the newly established DOGE, arrived at Blair House with his family, including three children, for the meeting.Also read: India may agree to buy more arms from US
“Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about, such as space, mobility, technology, and innovation,” Modi posted on X. He also shared his vision of India’s “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” approach.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi and Musk discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. They also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and governance.
Modi expressed his delight in meeting Musk’s family, saying, “It was also a delight to meet Mr @elonmusk’s family and to talk about a wide range of subjects!”
Before meeting Musk, Modi began his day with a meeting with US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, accompanied by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval. On Wednesday, after arriving at Blair House, Modi also met US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who had just taken the oath of office as the 8th Director of National Intelligence in the presence of President Trump.
Modi is in Washington for a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump, focusing on strengthening ties between the two nations.
