Road Trip alert: NHAI’s Rajmarg Yatra app will soon show travellers routes with lowest toll

Date:

Planning a road trip on national highways would soon become significantly cheaper, thanks to a new feature being added to the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) official mobile app, Rajmarg Yatra. According to a reports, a senior official with the highways authority said that the new feature on the app will allow users to compare toll charges on different routes between two destinations, enabling them to choose the more cost-effective option for their journey.Launched in 2023, the Rajmarg Yatra app provides real-time highway-related information such as road conditions, available facilities, and emergency services. With the new toll indicator feature, travellers will be able to see toll costs across multiple routes and select the one with the lowest charges. The feature is aimed at making road trip budget-friendly and enhancing transparency around toll collection.
For instance, a journey from Delhi to Lucknow can be made via three common routes: the Yamuna Expressway, the Ghaziabad-Aligarh-Kanpur highway, and the Moradabad-Bareilly-Sitapur corridor. The app will allow travellers to assess which of these routes entails the least toll expenditure. “Passengers can choose the best option with the help of the app, which will identify and highlight the most economical route between two cities,” the unnamed official was quoted as saying.
