Among the top performers on the Nifty, BEL, Tata Steel, BPCL, Hindalco, Adani Enterprises, and Adani Ports stood out. In the midcap segment, India Cements, Adani Energy, Alembic Pharma, and HPCL were the biggest gainers.
Despite the strong weekly performance, the market closed on a muted note on Friday after a rangebound session. The Sensex declined by 8 points to end at 74,333, while the Nifty 50 slipped by 8 points to 22,553. The Nifty Bank index lost 130 points to settle at 48,498, and the Midcap Index fell 158 points to 49,191.
