The claim was made through an online post that read, “Jai shri ram, satshrikal ram sare bhaiyo ko aj jo y y kapil sharma k kaps cafe..surrey m firing hui iski jimevari, goldy dhill Bishnoi gang lete h isko hamne call ki thi isko ring nhi sunai di to karwai krni krni pdi ab b ring n sungi to next karwai jaldi hi mumbai krege (SIC).
This roughly translates to, “We take responsibility for the firing in Surrey. We had called him, but he did not hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still does not hear the ring next action will be in Mumbai,” the purported post read.Kap’s Cafe is located in Surrey, British Columbia. It is owned by Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath. A purported video of the attack surfaced on social media in which at least 25 gunshots were heard.
The cafe came under attack on July 10.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) confirmed the incident and released a statement assuring that the officers are investigating the incident.
“At approximately 4:40 am on August 7, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of shots fired outside a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street. The same business was the location of a similar incident on July 10. Numerous SPS police resources and Delta Police Department units responded and while it appears multiple shots caused damage to the windows and building, fortunately the staff on premises were uninjured,” the statement read.
