The tile and sanitaryware maker posted a profit after tax of ₹10 crore for the quarter ended Dec. 31, down from ₹23 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose 5.1% year-on-year to ₹640 crore.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) fell 9.4% to ₹53 crore, with margins narrowing to 8.4% from 9.7% due to pricing pressures and higher input costs.
Profit before tax after exceptional items dropped 48.6% to ₹17 crore. Tax expenses declined 25.1% to ₹8 crore.For the nine-month period, Somany Ceramics’ revenue grew 1.7% to ₹1,877 crore, while profit after tax slid 40% to ₹39 crore. Earnings per share for Q3 fell to ₹2.26 from ₹5.22 a year earlier.
Somany Ceramics, one of India’s largest tile manufacturers, competes with Kajaria Ceramics and Asian Granito in the domestic market. The company remains cautious on demand recovery amid cost challenges.
