Soumya rape and murder convict escaped Kannur jail, caught within hours | Watch

A convict serving a life term in a rape and murder case who had escaped from the high-security Kannur Central Jail on the morning of Friday (July 25), has been caught by the police.Govindachamy, the man who escaped is serving a life imprisonment sentence in the rape and murder of a woman named Soumya in 2011.
News agency PTI reported that the man was caught from a worn out building at Thalap in Kannur city. He was reportedly hiding inside a nearby well.

The police launched a manhunt to find the inmate while notifying a wanted alert for his name.
