The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is widely celebrated across Maharashtra. It’s a public holiday in the state. So, stock markets will also remain closed on Ganesh Chaturthi.
Other than public holidays, bourses also remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays due to regular non-trading days during the weekends.The Sensex closed 1.04% lower at 80,786.54, while the Nifty50 dropped 1.02% to settle at 24,712.05 on Tuesday, August 26.

Even though the stock market will observe a holiday on Oct. 21 for Diwali, investors can still look forward to the traditional Muhurat Trading session.
