Parts of India face orange and red alerts for the next 2-3 hours. These areas may see thunderstorms with lightning, winds up to 60 kmph, hailstorms, and light to moderate rain. Affected regions include Madhya Maharashtra (including Pune), Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, northern Uttar Pradesh, and northern Bihar.Delhi and northern India will soon face hotter weather after brief dust storms and rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts rising temperatures over the next four days. Heatwave conditions are expected in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Bihar.
Delhi recorded a high of 35.2°C on Saturday, slightly below normal. On Sunday, expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 37°C and a low of 20°C. From Monday, temperatures will increase. Monday’s high may reach 39-41°C, Tuesday’s 40-42°C, and Wednesday’s (April 16) 41-43°C. Lows will range from 23-27°C. Winds of 10-20 kmph and low humidity will make the heat feel worse by mid-week.
In Uttar Pradesh, temperatures will rise. Varanasi and Prayagraj may hit 42-43°C, while Agra and Meerut could reach 41°C. Eastern Uttar Pradesh will face dry heat, while western areas may see isolated rain or dust storms from April 14-16.
Haryana will also warm up. Hisar and Karnal may see 38-42°C. Gurugram and Faridabad could experience dry heat. Near Punjab, Ambala and Kurukshetra might have light showers and winds of 30-40 kmph on April 14-15.In Bihar, Patna and Gaya may reach 41-42°C. Southern Bihar will face heatwave-like conditions, while northern areas like Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga could see light to moderate rain or thunderstorms from April 14-16.The IMD recommends staying hydrated and avoiding direct sun, especially in the afternoon.A 24-hour heavy rain alert covers Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. These areas may see thunderstorms, hail, and winds up to 50 kmph. Light to moderate rain is possible in Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.In Rajasthan, a storm on Friday night killed two women—one in Sirohi and one in Baran from a lightning strike.
