Tyagi was pursuing her Masters in Food Safety and Quality at Calgary University and she had previously studied at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, reported News18 citing her LinkedIn profile.
While the Canadian authorities have yet to release an official statement or confirm the cause of her death, an unverified post on X said that Tyagi died of a cardiac arrest on June 17. Her family has reportedly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help in repatriating her body, reported India Today.

Four Indian students’ deaths in Canada recently
Tyagi’s death follows several incidents involving Indian students in Canada in recent months.
In April, 21-yer-old Vanshika Saini, who had been missing for four days, was found dead near a beach in Ottawa. The High Commission of India in Ottawa confirmed her death and stated that local police officials are investigation the matter.
She had gone missing on April 25 after leaving home to inspect a rental property. Her phone had gone offline that night, and she had missed a key exam the following day which was said to be out of character, as per India Today.

About a week earlier in April, Harsimrat Randhawa, 21, a student at Mohawk college in Hamilton, died after being struck by a stray bullet while waiting at a bus stop. Hamilton police confirmed that she was caught in the crossfire during a shooting between two vehicles, as per Business Today.
CCTV footage showed a black car opening fire at a white sedan before both fled the scene. A homicide investigation is underway. The Indian Consulate General in Toronto said it was in close contact with Randhawa’s family and was offering assistance.
Racially motivated stabbing of an Indian student
Dharmesh Kathireeya, a 27-year-old from Gujarat on a work permit, was fatally stabbed by a neighbour in Rockland, Ontario on April 4.
The alleged attacker had reportedly hurled racial slurs before the incident. Kathireeya’s employer, Milano Pizza Rockland, closed operations temporarily in his memory.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa confirmed that a suspect was in custody, and Ontario provincial police were investigating the matter, as per The Hindustan Times.
