Tesla hikes price of Cybertruck’s top model by $15,000 in US

Date:

Tesla has raised the price of its most expensive Cybertruck variant in the United States by $15,000, even as the electric pickup faces slower-than-expected sales and repeated recalls. The Cyberbeast version of the truck will now cost $114,990, reported news agency Reuters.

The price increase is tied to the addition of a new “Luxe Package” which includes Supervised Full Self-Driving and along with access to Tesla’s Supercharger network.

Prices of the other Cybertruck models remain unchanged. The adjustment contrasts sharply with Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s initial pitch in 2019, when he suggested a starting price of around $40,000, as per Reuters.

However, when tesla finally launched the Cybertruck in late 2023, the base model was introduced at $60,990, which was more than 50% higher that Musk’s original target.Read more: Auto bookings slow down as buyers delay purchases on GST cut hopes

Production challenges and recalls

Musk has previously said that Tesla has the capacity to manufacture more than 125,000 Cybertrucks annually, with scope to double the production to 250k units by 2025. However, he has also warned of a “difficult production ramp.”

The Cybertruck’s rollout has been marred by quality issues and recalls, which have weighed on demand.

In March, Tesla recalled around 46k Cybertrucks built between November 2023, when deliveries began, and February 27, 2025, as per Reuters.
